Gokulam Kerala FC coach Bino George believes that the performances of Kerala players have been crucial in helping the club defeat champions Minerva Punjab at EMS Corporation Stadium on November 18.
“My belief is that I can show the whole country that Kerala has quality players. Gani Ahammed Nigam and Rajesh S have played really well and I think they have lived up to the tag Giant Killers,” said Bino after the match.
“My aim is to give platform for Kerala players and I will use them for next matches also. These kinds of performances help them to get noticed. Several coaches have already enquired about Rajesh. Eventually he may grab attention of national team coach Stephen Constantine and get a call up,” he said.
Bino also said that the 30,000 fans who thronged the stadium during the match created an atmosphere that helped to boost the performances of the players. “We are playing for our fans. Their acceptance is our motivation. I request the fans to make a similar atmosphere for the next match (vs Churchill Brothers on November 30) also. All the players are now enthralled to play in the first eleven and are fighting for a place,” he added.
