Vorbe says Gokulam need to be focused against Arrows

KOZHIKODE, FEB. 14: Haitian footballer Fabien Vorbe believes Gokulam Kerala FC can still make a turnaround this season as Malabarians are all set to host Indian Arrows here at EMS Corporation Stadium on February 16.

The holding midfielder, who joined Gokulam midway, has been quickly inducted into the playing eleven by technical director Gift Raikhan. He along with Brazilian Castro has brought in more energy and vigor into the midfield and the player, who was with NEROCA FC last year, assures that the club still can end the season on a high note.

“The players have performed well in the past two matches. Against Mohun Bagan we played a perfect match and we could have even won that game. At Srinagar, we did not deserve to lose. In the first half, we played some superb football but eventually we lost to the bad weather. So I believe, we could still do wonders in the league,” he said.

Indian Arrows

Fabien believes that GKFC could play good football even though they lost their away match against the youngsters. “We are grown up men and we have to show that. Last time they defeated us and it has certainly hurt our egos. We should show that we are strong. Nobody likes to lose a match and drop points.”

I have watched some of the matches and I have also played against Indian Arrows when I was with NEROCA FC. They are the national team and they play superb football. We have to be focused on the field or otherwise we would be punished,” he said.

Midfield

Fabien points out that fans can expect more from him in the coming matches. “Since joining Gokulam Kerala FC, I have been able to add more experience in midfield. Along with Castro, I was able to make good progress. The Brazilian is a wonderful character and I think our combo worked out well in the midfield. We both have played in Latin America and this is helping us a lot. The Indian Players also have been wonderful. Our possession has increased and also we play with more pace. This is the change I see after I joined here,” he said.

Kozhikode

Fabian says he loves Kozhikode. The Haitian had visited the city last year as part of NEROCA FC and has fond memories. “In that match, we won 3-0 against Gokulam and I was able to assist a goal. We had five days here and I visited several places. Now also I am enjoying the place. The people are really nice,” he said.
