Kozhikode: Gokulam Kerala FC’s Ghanaian forward Christian Sabah has become a fan favorite with just two Hero I-League matches and with his debut goal against East Bengal FC Sabah looks forward for a brighter season ahead.
Though the tap in against East Bengal at Salt Lake Stadium was his first goal in his career in any top level league, he was not able to celebrate it properly.
“Though we played well, we were going down. I was not happy. Yes it was my debut goal in the league but I will celebrate when we win,” he says.
The Ghanaian winger believes that the team has the ability to bounce back from the defeat and claim the title. “This is a very tough league and we have to be the best. We played very well in Kolkata and I think it is only matter of time, we regroup and regain the momentum,” he said.
“I want to score more goals. As a footballer, this is my aim. I am waiting for the moment to score in front of our home fans. I want to celebrate along with them,” he says.
Sabah says that after each match, the team is getting more coordinated. “The understanding between the players is increasing after each match. I started lately and now I am now comfortable with the forwards. Arjun and Rajesh are supporting me really well. Once there is more understanding then we can create more chances,”he said.
Gokulam Kerala FC play Real Kashmir FC at EMS Corporation Stadium here on December 15.
